My Expert Book – Preparation

Thank you!

Thank you so much for reserving your place in the Zoom workshop My Expert Book, taking place on Thursday, September 29, at 8pm CET.

The workshop was fully booked within a few hours after opening the registration to our mailing list, and you are one of the few that got the opportunity to learn this strategy I have never shared before.

During the workshop you will learn:

  1. Why this expert book format is the most valuable tool to build your expertise;

  2. What is the most valuable content to include in your expert book;

  3. How to best structure your content for your readers;

  4. How to create the highest quality content – fast, efficient AND without writing a single word;

  5. How to make it all happen – your implementation plan.

How to prepare?

In order to make sure I can give you everything you need to know in a 2-hour workshop, you will need to complete the following preparation assignment.

This is a mandatory requirement, and if you won’t complete it BEFORE the workshop, unfortunately – you will NOT be able to participate

So, please, take it seriously.

Please answer ALL the following questions on a document on your device, and when you’re done, copy-paste your answers from your device into the comment box below:

  1. List all the reasons: why you must publish an expert book;

  2. List all the reasons (and excuses): why you didn’t publish your expert book yet;

  3. Find one or two words to CLEARLY communicate your area of expertise
E.g. public speaking, team building, weight loss, dog training, online marketing, Facebook ads, relationship advice…

  4. Make a list of (at least) 25 questions you are asked often (FAQs) about your expertise that answering them can deliver tons of value to your prospects, clients and readers;

  5. Organize these questions in appropriate categories
E.g. let’s say you’re a weight loss expert… then some categories could be: eat and don’t eat, drink and don’t drink, exercise, healthy habits, dealing with temptations/cravings, support system, maintaining your desired weight…

Practicalities

To complete this assignment you should reserve between 30 to 60 minutes – so don’t postpone doing it to the last minute.

WHEN we receive your answers in the comment box, we will send you the login information to the Zoom meeting room.

Please be patient as this might take some time (we are reading every single comment).

If you posted your comment and didn’t hear from us with the login information by Thursday at 5pm, please contact us by WhatsApp or text at: +31-6-43766590.

Hun resultaat beter maken in minder tijd.

    1. I’m sorry, Alexander…
No one ever searched for “government doctor” in Google for anything but a salary of a doctor employed ny a government (mainly India).

Please read my examples in the instructions, and my feedback to everyone else.

This 2-word term is the most important part in order to use my expert book strategy, so get it right…
This is the term that people ACTUALLY type into Google in order to find something about your area of expertise.

      1. You are so right!

Tnx for pointing that out to me. Point taken 😉

        My two words are:
        Government Leadership

What I do, is making leadership in governments clear and manageable (helder en hanteerbaar). As well as for mayors and elderman or politicians as for civil servants (public professionals; in Dutch: ambtenaren).

We (civil servants) service the democracy and its citizens, but we - as government (organization) - are not. We make democracy work (by our conscious public leadership)!

        Big hug 🤗 Alexander

    1. You will find out, Maru, than no one is looking for “entrepreneurship for moms” but “mom business” is much more searched for.

And about “serial entrepreneurship” no one is looking for it, and although there are many searches for “serial entrepreneur” they’re almost always accompanied by the name of the entrepreneur (e.g. Elon Musk Serial Entrepreneur”…)

Something to keep thinking and refining… what do people search for.

      1. Thank you so much Nisandeh. This is an eye opener.
I upfront apologize for my ignorance (not a question for an expert), but where do YOU search the words that are the most searched for?

Googling, I came across Google Trends: https://trends.google.com/. But I can not find statistics easily.

Is there any other tool that you recommend?

        Many thanks in advance

        1. Of course there is…
Two of them actually, and I’m gonna share them in the workshop.
But they’re of no use if you don’t come up with reasonable terms that people would actually search for.

          1. Can’t wait to the workshop tonight!

Then the right question is: how to come with reasonable terms that people search for?

Personally, since I do not watch TV, news or engage in social media, I find it hard to guess…

But I would just do some serious Target Audience research and the results will provide real words people are searching for (pains/trends). That instead of guessing/assuming.
Is that in the right direction?

    - The strong believe I just can’t write a book
    - I’m not experienced enough
    - Why should people listen to me?
    - Other important work to do

3 Find one or two words to CLEARLY communicate your area of expertise
Like almost all attendees of this program it is very difficult for me to make my expertise clear in two words. I’m an experienced Scrum Master and I have specialize myself in the field of Product Owners. I like, I’m good in and find it important to build bridges between people to collaborate and learn together.

For now I define my expertise as Collaboration Facilitator.

4 25 questions you are asked often
    1. What is it that you don’t know about collaboration with your stakeholders that can hurt you?
    2. What is the one bad habit in working with your team that is killing your team moral?

    4. What is the one thing you should do to help your Product Owners?
    5. How do I make it clear to others how we get to a concrete product from my dream for the future?
    6. How do I keep my stakeholders aligned?
    7. What are the tasks most important to me as a Product Owner?
    8. In which way can I get commitment of my team?
    9. How to build a good relationship with your stakeholders?

    12. What is the one pitfall for Product Owners through which teams and stakeholders do not want to cooperate?
    13. How can you find time in your hectic schedule to spend time on the really important things? (thank you Lola)
    14. How tho find time in your calendar to spend time on real product development?

    21. What is the one succesfactor to learn with your team?
    22. What’s the biggest difference between working in projects and working with an Agile mindset?

5 Organize these questions in appropriate categories
It’s a bit difficult to make appropriate categories. For now I’m thinking of:
    1. Mindset
    2. Pitfalls
    3. Different ways of collaboration

    1. Ask yourself, Henny…
How many people are searching daily in Google for “collaboration facilitator”.
I’ll give you a hint… in the whole wide world, it’s very, very close to zero.

Think what is the one or two words that people will actually input into Google when they’re searching something about your area of expertise.

      1. Thank you Nisandeh.
Like you told Bas, scrum, Agile, product owner and coach are words people are looking for on Google.
So would it be better to just describe my expertise as Scrum Master or Product Owner Coach?
And in the questions and answers I can go in depth on collaboration.

        1. “Scrum” on its own is probably better than “scrum master”.
“Product Owner” (without the “coach”) is perfect.

  27. Dear Nisandeh,

Here I have listed, as bulletwise as possible my answers for the preparation assignment.

    Best Regards, Guido

All the reasons why I must publish an expert book

Position myself as an expert, I have the highest possible title in my field of work, and I am not claiming it
Claim my authority in the field and beyond
The book needs to be a tool I can refer to (as I have already mentioned in my book…..)
Increase my expert status, people that have followed my education know my expertise, this will increase the value of my expertise
Who writes, stays, (in Dutch: wie schrijft, blijft)
Boost myself to get a position in the speakers academy (extra income channel, for which)
Spread my expertise faster than having to be everywhere in person
Give people that know my expertise the possibility to refer to my expertise easier
    Selling myself

    2. All the reasons and excuses why I didn’t publish an expert book yet

    Too large a project
    I don’t like writing
What should be my topic? Too many to choose from
Who wants to read my book?
Where should I find the time?
Aren’t there other ways of doing it?
I feel it’s fair to say that a lot of these reasons and excuses are already in the background. We already spoke about it during 10x, a lot has changed since then. Writing a book is on my list for 2023 (or sooner if I know that’s feasible) since I consider it to be a great addition to my expert status. I know I can do big projects now. I have built online NLP (people looking at my videos). That was big and it is close to being finished. So I can do big projects.

    3. Find one or two words to clearly communicate your area of expertise

Seems a simple question, yet for me this is the most difficult one. I am not consistent here and I need to be in order to make the book - or rather my positioning - succesful.

At first sight it should be: NLP
but that’s not it. NLP is just a set of tools helping people to achieve their goals, to gain more knowledge about themselves and/or others and to live a better live. That’s not it. At least that’s too broad for my area of expertise. And I am looking for the right words and the right direction.
I think I should direct it towards individuals then it would be more: happy in business. There I don’t like the word happy. But it is the word that until now comes closest to what it is.
I have claimed the site businesshappiness.nl Because that is another way to describe it: Business Happiness. Which is directed at both employers/managers and employees and how they can work successfully together.
I have been thinking about business health but that’s not it either. It’s not about a healthy business but about staying healthy doing business, and that line sucks. So, not fully defined yet.

    4. Make a list of (at least) 25 questions you are asked often about your expertise that answering them can deliver tons of value to your propects, clients and readers
and 5. organise these questions in appropriate categories

    Business Oriented

How can I get rid of all the complaints my employees are telling me all the time?
How do I deal with my sick employees? I am not allowed to ask them anything and I want to reduce the rate of sickness of personnel
Is there a manual how to motivate my employees?
One of my employees has a personal issue, I don’t want to deal with it, what should I do/can you do it for me?
Can you help me to get my team working together properly again?
How do I communicatie with my personnel (when it comes to broad messaging, not one on one)?
What is the best way to get my message across? This is very broad question which people are asking me quite often. The answer is very much related to the specific situation, from which I am abstracting now.
I need to get back on track with my partners (owner level), but that is very difficult. What should I do?
How do I engage younger employees (an older generation wondering how to engage the younger generations).

    Personally Oriented in Business Context:

Can you tell me how to survive my client/manager?
I am not really happy in my function anymore, yet I don’t want to leave, can you help me finding back my motivation?
I am not being challenged anymore, and I don’t know where to find it, can you help me?
I need to grow in certain areas to be able to being promoted to the next step. Can you help me?
Why can’t I cooperate with him/her? And what should I do about it?
How to fill my time when I am retiring and my wife is not?
I don’t know where I am good at/what I like doing for a living, can you help me out?
How do I make a transition from what I am doing right now, to what I really want to do?

    Personally oriented:

How do I get more confidence?
I have to stop pleasing/how do I draw a limit to what I am doing?
My relationship is so functional only the last couple of years, is that normal? (from couples with young kids)
My family patterns are bothering me, how do I deal with
a. my family
b. the patterns
I have an (eating) disorder/anxiety/fear can you help me with that?
I would like to gain more insight in myself (my strengths and weaknesses), however deeper than the average is teling me. Can you help me out?
I am not achieving anything, how do I get control over myself? The context of this question is not procrastination but being overwhelmed by the number of things I need to do (work, private life, sports, clubs/societies and so on)

    General (applicable in any context)

How do I engage people to support me in my ideas? —> this is both in the business context, the personally oriented in business context and the personal oriented context.

    1. Hey Guido…
It’s great to have you with us… it’s been a million years, no?

      About your area of expertise…
Unfortunately, this is not something to define “later”.
This is the most important part for the expert book system I’m going to teach you.

Please think of the 2-word term that people search in Google in order to find information about your area of expertise…

      1. Hi Nisandeh,

It's certainly been quite a while!

And when you put it like this, when it comes to search words in Google. It think it would be:
(how to be) happy at work
Would that be something? The questions still apply
